MARTS AGM was held on the 27th. Feb 2005 at Dewan Penyayang Penang. I didn't participate because I just don't like any council member who likes to brag and brand others as stupid. To me MARTS had not been as strong as ASTRA or MARES. Just look at the web page. It had been almost paralysed. MARTS repeaters are nowhere compared to the ones owned by ASTRA. During the disaster MARES and ASTRA did much to give their hands. I also did not hear of any RAE or CW courses conducted to the members. The promised callbook was not printed to this very day when this view is written. Several newsletters were issued out but to blame the members for not contributing articles hence an excuse not to produce one is a sad statement.

If  MARTS failed to service any faulty repeater or erect a new one, MARTS should not blame the fellow council member in-charge of the repeater. If in an office a financial clerk got sick the organization should not blame her if salaries are not paid. Bad organizations would blame others of any failure.

I asked 9M2MZ to QSY to Penang to see friends at the AGM. We arrived the hall just after noon. We saw many people outside. They were talking about the proceedings, arguments, one member almost punched a council member, the legality of the ballot paper etc. I learned the proposal paper submitted by one KL group was rejected due to the invalidity of some persons inside. The present council had no competition.

I heard at least one  member of the present council are scared of someone called Zol. If the KL group won this Zol will be the master again. Zol was said to use a proxy to gain power. I don't know who this Zol is. But I know the previous council was almost as good as the present one.

At he outside, before the meeting ended I heard someone saying that she was going to make a police report on the present council. I don't know what the police can do. I don't know any law but  I dont think the police will act on anybody without any criminal offence. If the council member would have been hit or make any police report then only the police might act. The dissatisfied person could however try to report to ROS. I believe the strengh lies in the closeness between the ROS officer and the other party rather than anything else. I believe the outcome may depend on this ties.

But I am happy that 9W2SAM is in the council. I know her as an active and capable person. If the old council members like Zu and Betsy give SAM their support I think all ham radio operators from any organization would be able to feel the benifit. I very much believe with the support of more YLS Malaysia would be able to host the SEANET again.

I would like to advise any council member to use his mouth wisely otherwise in no time he wll face a big trouble. The punch will not land on his face, but somewhere else.

While the meeting was still on and the food was ready some guys rushed for their lunch. Marzuki and me were not members of MARTS but we also QSY for the makan legal or not. We hope MARTS and God will forgive our sin for the free makan. Marzuki filled in the whole plate. I took only some. I think Marzuki will have to beg for a bigger forgiveness.
