Facts are more important than winning or losing. Most of the time humans tend to reject ideas from their enemies even though those ideas are excellent. Some bosses who had made bad decission refused to change it just because they are bosses.

There is a conflict of opinions between MCMC and some of the senior HAMS as to the allocation of callsigns. When the telecom was the administrator 9M0 was given to any special event stations, 9M2 to West Malaysia, 9M6 to Sabah and 9M8 to Sarawak. Club stations would end with alphabet C like 9M2KUC or 9M2PIC. The present administrator, the MCMC, changed the system for the club stations, assigning the prefix 9M4, hence 9M4RES as an example.

The old ham members do not agree to this new assignment. They point out the the confusion that may occur to the experienced DX stations. 9M4 should refer to a region like many other countries. In Indonesia  call area 0, 1, 2...9 are used to indicate geographical locations. The MCMC stands with it's decission pointing to the IARU's recommendation.

Also in conflict is the allocation of the suffixes. The old hams insist that the 3 letter prefixes should be allocated after the exhaustion of the 2 letter prefixes whereas the MCMC wants to create callsigns with the 3 letter prefixes.

Who should prevail in this conflict ? In other words who should win ?

Winning or losing should not be the outcome. All must look at the bare facts. The MCMC must be sincere when experienced ham radio operators are called in for discussions. One should not be too proud of one's position and qualification because there are many others who may be better than us in both skills and academic achievements. Idon't know how many time people like 9M2GL were called to the discussion table. 9M2GL is a graduate from Australia in radio communication. 9M2FF worked in Telecom and involved in CW examination. These people should not be forgotten.

Points, facts and whatever presented should be scrutinized well. Any decission shold not be in favour of anyone because it is based on facts. Facts do not belong to any party.
