I have been observing those new licence A hams who passed their CW test are not just normal people. They are special people; who had been persistence, consistence, building their self-duscipline and with strong fighting spirit. There has been a history of a person sitting for CW test for 5 times and finally felt proud of himself.

More important than the CW test is a character building of a ham. We are trying to eliminate persons of bad character who know no boundry of respects upon others, who can throw out four letter words anytime on the air, cursing people, swearing and using hatred words like 'butoh' or 'babi' or even 'pungkok'. We have heard these before. Even in the West these kind of people exist. In one of my articles someone who called himself Bear showed his ass in his QSL card. Mind you he is one of the no-cw fighter.

Man of civilization is observing world's leadership thru many ways; by their words, their doings, the way they tackle aggressive questions and others. Leaders are grouped into categories from emotionally stable to emotionally unstable, good to poor mental health.

We have come across people who had just become a ham fought with a very seasoned and experienced ham in course of running up a Seanet in Malaysia. We saw how much yhey brag and how how they measure their own standard.

Passing CW does not include good in CW. They are different things altogether. One depends on persistence, discipline and courage and the other depends on the frequency of listening practices daily.

Good character persons are not those who passed CW. Even though a person does not pass the test, he is also a good person in many ways. Like many other failures, problems of work, lack of time, old age etc can be the main factor. However, if we observe very carefully there is a small margin of persons who are good at nothing but causing problems to the others.

As I see it, it take special persons to pass CW. I don't have the record of everyone. Those I have had constant contacts are 9M2PEN, 9M2MGL, 9M2AGC, 9M2NCL,9M2PGA and a few others. We are proud to have these people to replace the old hams who are fading day by day.

SO YOU THINK HAM RADIO IS A HIGH CLASS HOBY AND DIFFER FROM CB ?

Anything that is easy and unskilled cannot achieve a class of  higer order. Today's radio administrators look at things in different ways. They talk about relevancy, comparing to the internet technology and derive at a new conclusion. With current state of the art technology no technical knowledge is required. So putting RAE to make ham radio looks different from CB is just only for convenience's sake.

What about the members ? Does it need only special people to be members ? NO. Anybody is entitle to be a member. As one hams put it 'even criminals can be a ham...' He said criminals do not offend the hobby. So now ham radio composes of all sort of people with all sort of behaviors. As far as I have been an operator only I heard of cheaters cheating other hams, smugglers of ham equipments, giving away some secret codes of a certain authority, campaigning against fellow hams, calling for boycots, and pushing ones' seperiorities, allowing non-licencees to check in net, encouraging piracies and using bad words on the air.

What about the ethics ? NO ethics too. What code of ethics are being employed by radio societies in Malaysia ?

The ARRL at least still want to make ham still a high class hobby. The FCC is slowly destroying it. It is movong towards an open radio stuffs like a CB. Looking at the future ham radio is almost dead. We just call a deadly ham radio by the name we like to call it. Like I said it is for convenience. Now let's look at several older hams who gave full support to no-cw, now totally stay away from the so-called ham radio.

The council members of radio societies have not attended SEANET, do not know how to organize contests, don't know the various awards, and many more things about ham radio. How then are we to talk about standard ?

Anything of a calss must have a standard, a certain challenges and skill. You want to be a skydiver you have to have a certain skill and have to train hard to achieve it. Even becoming an astrounaut one has to achive a certain skill otherwise one will only be called a space tourist. To the American, there is not short cut way to be an astronaut.

What about money ? Is the level of wealth a member have qualifies it to be a first class hobby ? That's what one or two guys think. Having bought so many equipments legal or illegal and going DXing illegally make them think they are already great.

In short ham radio is no more a high class hobby. What it can do, the computer can do it better. CB is getting more popular. It has no restrictions, no RAE, no CW, and you can talk throughout the world. Once Yaesu, Icom, Kenwood find they can make more money by CB and less money from ham gears, I am sure they will be lobbying the ITU personnel to do away with ham radio.
