WHY I LIKE MY OWN LOG BOOK

I am not a computer programmer. I teach myself Visual Basic, the very basic of it and waste no time on it. There are several versions of the logbook programs having different name. The above version need to be interfaced with the transceiver to enabled it to command the radio, going from frequency to frequency, changing the memory channel and shows the frequency on the picture of the icom. I can check a new station from a Ham Call, QRZ or Indonesian Call Book when I place the call sign in the yellow box and click the check box corresponding to the name. The unnamed check box right to the combo box will show me the map of the country. I just used any map I could find and download because the logbook is not for commercial use.

Using the non-electronic log sometimes cause difficulty in searching the history of the station, whether I have worked the him before, his name and location, the previous mode and the number of previous contacts. With this one it tells me a few information immediately. Below, I typed YB6LD. It immediately tells me that I have worked him 162 times and out of it 66 times were on CW.

SATELLITE POSITION

I also incorporate the position of the satellite. It is live. During when Sheikh Muzaffar was on the ISS, I was following the space station using my logbook.

Though the NASA TV could be seen live using the menu Nasa, I seldom used it. Otherwise I could watch it while hamming. But during the time when I feel like watching what the astronauts are doing I would go to it. The regular chosen menu is the CW. While at rest I would lean against my chair, closing my eyes and listen to high speed CW which reads from some cuttings from the Internet. I don't want to be left out by the international ham radio community who are active on the band.

Database is very handy. It helps me a lot in finding all sort of information.

My logbook is using an Access database.

I like it because it is my product. It is not professionally designed and there are several drawbacks. I just enjoy it.
